The 2001 is still fresh

framed by black tea and alder notes that hang through the finish

crushed herbs and notes of red and black cherries

this appears to have excellent underlying material and thus my score offers the benefit of the doubt

This is a vintage where the Cabernet Sauvignon did exceptionally well (55% with 45% Merlot)

Here the nose is similar but more reserved and offers just a bit more overt minerality that also characterizes the firm, precise and pure flavors that possess so much extract that it confers a textured character to the vibrant and exceptionally persistent finish. This is a focused effort that exhibits controlled power and a lovely sense of underlying tension. Worth a look as this is quite good.
