The composition highlights a street lined with houses with colourful facades and sloping roofs, under a cloudy sky. The dominant colours are soft, natural tones such as greens, yellows and browns, which create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The painting evokes a sense of loneliness and melancholy, typical of Hopper's work.
